13 Awesome Performances In Otherwise Disappointing 2021 Movies

10. Patrick Wilson And Vera Farmiga - The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

Reminiscence Hugh Jackman
Warner Bros.

This deeply underwhelming horror threequel was one of the most disappointing films of the year, especially since it neutered almost everything that made The Conjuring and it's surprisingly excellent sequel work so well. Almost everything.

As much of a dispiriting let-down as the film was in the script and scares department, it was at least headlined by the terrific pairing of Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, who play Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Once again, they absolutely disappear into the characters and make them two of the most likeable, human and relatable protagonists in any horror franchise. Their chemistry together is similarly on-point and this film sees them reaffirm themselves as, let's be honest, one of the finest power couples in horror cinema.

So yes, The Conjuring 3 still sucks overall but these two at least made it semi-watchable, so that's something.
