13 Best Character Introductions In MCU Movies
3. Tony Stark (Iron Man)
Tony Stark's introduction to fans is also the first ever scene from the first ever MCU movie, so it's an especially significant moment. The movie kicks off in Afghanistan with Stark part of an Army convoy, while listening to AC/DC, sipping on some fine liquor and making idle chit-chat with the nervous soldiers surrounding him.
Stark loosens the soldiers up and even agrees to take a picture with them - complete with the hilariously out-of-date line, "I don't wanna see this on your MySpace page" - but the convoy is swiftly attacked by terrorists, with Stark being brutally wounded by his company's own weaponry.
Lasting only around three minutes, this is an incredibly efficient way to introduce Stark to audiences, by demonstrating his personality, summarising his flaws (namely substance abuse) and quickly establishing the early hypocrisy of his character.
We know almost instantly from this scene that Downey was perfectly cast in the role, and if he and Jon Favreau didn't nail it so decisively, perhaps the MCU wouldn't exist as we know it today.
