Best: The Fighter (2010) A million miles away from her wide-eyed, oh-so-Disney performances in The Muppets and Enchanted - which both only narrowly missed out here - Adams' brash and tenacious take on Massachusetts femininity was as eye-catching as Christian Bale's take on drug addiction in the same movie. Armed with a less irresistible armoury of characteristics, Adams' performance as Charlene Fleming is brilliant, and rightly earned plaudits for how well she broke stereotype without so much as a hangover. Worst: Wedding Date (2005) Formulaic, stale and completely predictable, Wedding Date feels distinctly like Adams hadn't yet found her feet, and it definitely didn't help that the material was so woefully under-cooked. She's lost in a sea of mediocrity, and more recent context makes this unfortunate film all the more tragic.
