10. Hank Pym & Howard Stark Invented Ultron - Ant-Man
The Theory: In flashbacks, it's revealed that Iron Man's father, Howard Stark (John Slattery), with the help of a young Hank Pym, helped to create the building blocks for what becomes Ultron in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Why It Could Be True: For starters, the official premise for Age Of Ultron states that it begins as Iron Man "tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program", and it's known that Slattery will be reprising his role from Iron Man 2 as Tony Stark's middle-aged father in Ant-Man. So, why not have a young Pym (who invented Ultron in the comics) working with Stark in flashbacks to demonstrate how Ultron first came about while tying Ant-Man further into the events of Age Of Ultron? Perhaps this is the sort of thing that pushed Edgar Wright away from the project... Why It's Probably Not: Tying Ultron's creation to the Stark family is sure to rub some comic book fans up the wrong way for one, and it's entirely possible that the "dormant peacekeeping program" is referring to one of the surveillance operations resurrected in Captain America: The Winter Soldier instead.
