13 Bonkers Theories About 2015's Biggest Movies (That Surely Can't Be True)
9. It's All About UFOs - Tomorrowland
The Theory: Brad Bird's mysterious live-action adventure flick revolves around Project Blue Book, an operation in which the U.S. government worked with Walt Disney in the 1950s to create a propaganda TV show that would inform the American people that, yes, aliens were real. Why It Could Be True: The theory, first posited by Jim Hill, is so ridiculous that it just could be true, and has nevertheless been a popular old wives' tale for decades. How it would tie into what's been shown off so far is anyone's guess, but it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility and would set an undeniably fascinating foundation. Why It's Probably Not: HitFix's Drew McWeeny claims that it's total bunk and that the plot instead revolves around a teenage girl, a middle-aged boy genius (George Clooney) and a robot girl attempting to figure out what happened to the magical realm of Tomorrowland in order to save Earth. The trailer footage shown off so far seems to support this, though with a premise this fantastical, anything can really happen.
