13 Comic Book Villains That Movies Ruined Worse Than Dr Doom

7. Mephisto (Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance)

Now, Mephisto was hardly given a great treatment in the original Ghost Rider movie, but Peter Fonda did pretty much the best job possible with the material he had, whereas the talented CiarĂ¡n Hinds was left almost completely stranded will a dull, overly human interpretation of the devilish character, who goes by the name of Roarke throughout the film. The real problem is that Roarke's scheme, to inhabit the body of his son Danny (Fergus Riorden) in order to access unlimited power on Earth, is laughably generic and carried out tediously to boot. With a number of more animated and interesting characters surrounding him, Mephisto pretty much gets lost in the shuffle here, because what's the point basically putting the Devil in your movie and a) not giving him a larger-than-life personality and b) not actually showing him looking anything like the Devil at any point?
