13 Crazy Movie Pitches That Would Have Ruined 2015
6. Baz Luhrmann Adapts Classic TV Series Kung Fu
The Pitch: In April of 2014, it was announced that style-over-substance extraordinaire Baz Luhrmann was circling a big-screen adaptation of the classic 1970s David Carradine-starring martial arts show. What Happened?: There's been absolutely nothing said about the project in the 9 months since, even though a script has been completed since before Luhrmann was even approached. It looks like this may be another ridiculous project that simply stagnates and quietly disappears, and there's zero chance of it landing in 2015, anyway. When the story first broke, the Internet outrage was considerable: after all, stylistically lush though his films are, what in Luhrmann's previous filmography at all suggests he'd be well-suited for tackling this sort of material? Perhaps Baz got wind of the rumblings and decided to make a sly exit...
