13 Cringe-Worthy Movie Moments That Completely Ruined Great Songs

12. Supermassive Black Hole (Muse) - Twilight

To be fair to Muse, they were pretty up-front about why they allowed their hit song Supermassive Black Hole to be used in the first Twilight movie, and also why the group then went on to compose Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever) specifically for the third movie, Eclipse: they needed the exposure in the US. Bassist Chris Wolstenholme stated, "You have to take every opportunity you get over there and sometimes you have to sell your soul." That they certainly did. The scene in question features Bella playing baseball with the Cullens, set to the killer tune, but the real problem is the cheesy visual effects and slow motion because, of course, being super-fast, super-strong vampires, this is no ordinary game of baseball. There's two minutes of this pain before the bad guys show up and thankfully put a stop to it, but it's pure filler in an already pretty terrible movie, and forever changed our perception of both the song and the band.
