5. No Redemption For Kylo Ren

The Last Jedi proved just how decisively Johnson wants to avoid mirroring the events of the original trilogy, and so to that end it seems rather unlikely he'll give Kylo Ren the Darth Vader treatment by redeeming him in Episode IX.

Considering that Kylo killed his father and attempted to assassinate his mother, it would make far more sense if he was ultimately beyond saving. Given how Kylo Ren has the potential to become an even more imposing tyrant than Vader by the end of the next movie, to follow the same, predictable, overly sentimental path would feel like a huge misstep.

Johnson clearly knows it, too, and that's why it won't happen. There will probably be an air of tragedy to Kylo's inevitable demise, but he'll stay committed to his cause to the very end.
