13 Famous Movies You Had No Idea Were Based On Books

5. First Blood (1982)

firstblood1It's Based On The Book... "First Blood" By David Morrell "Rambo? A book? You've got to be kidding me!" Yep, but let's not forget that the Rambo series never really started out as the series of horrifically violent sequences that we all associate it with being now. In the original Rambo movie, First Blood, only one person died, and it worked as a kind of drama about the affects of the Vietnam war and how soldiers were treated when they returned to the States. And yet the novel - "literature," mind - is probably a far more violent venture than its movie adaptation. "First Blood" was written by David Morrell in 1972, and received mixed reviews from critics, who thought it glamorised violence somehow. How Close Is It To The Book? The main chunk of story is pretty much the same, though both Rambo and antagonising Sheriff Teasel succumb to their wounds and die at the end of the book.
