8. Dogma
"God? Lonely. But funny. He's got a great sense of humor. Take sex for example. There's nothing funnier than the ridiculous faces you people make mid-coitus."
A fantastic blend of sarcasm, theology and stoner prophets, Dogma is more of a reflection on the absurdities of organised religion than an invitation to embrace sin. Bartleby and Loki, two angels banished to Wisconsin, seek redemption from their exile-worthy sins by entering a Catholic church on the day of its re-dedication. At first glance the plan seems sound, but as with all human-made rules there's a catch: their return would discredit God's judgment even further than the creation and continued existence of Piers Morgan, in effect erasing the entire universe. Not even the cheery face of Buddy Christ can get us out of that one.
