13 Huge Movies That Black Panther Destroyed At The Box Office

11. Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle

Box Office: $957.7 million.

In fairness, pretty much nobody saw Jumanji's immense box office success coming either. It would've surprised nobody if the $110 million action-adventure flick pulled in a respectable $300-400 million and that was the end of the story.

Instead, the star-studded soft reboot got within spitting distance of a billion dollars and was unquestionably one of 2017's most unexpected runaway success stories.

Even with Black Panther's box office tracking starting to pick up in January, few could've confidently expected it to crush a movie starring The Rock and one of the most famous comedians working today, Kevin Hart.

It certainly shouldn't bruise Jumanji's ego, considering how spectacularly both itself and Black Panther over-performed, but even so, on paper a Black Panther solo movie probably shouldn't destroy a broad studio action-comedy quite so decisively.
