13 Incredible Moments In Otherwise Forgettable Movies
9. Gunfight At The Guggenheim - The International
The Movie: This is just another of the many forgettable box office duds Clive Owen suffered through while Hollywood was still trying to make him a household name. Despite decent work from Owen and Naomi Watts, a flatly incoherent, convoluted script ruins most of this political thriller's potential fun.
The Scene: Protagonist Louis Salinger (Owen) finds himself caught in a gunfight at New York's Guggenheim Museum, resulting in a tenacious six-minute sequence that's both masterfully shot and edited as Salinger desperately attempts to descend the winding building with his life in tact.
Bullets fly and glass shatters all over the place while video art installations play around Salinger and his assailants. It's tense, bloody and benefits tremendously from its unique setting, which impressively - yet unsurprisingly - was a full-size replica of the real Guggenheim, who wouldn't allow them to film the sequence there.
