13 Incredible Moments In Otherwise Forgettable Movies
6. First-Person Shooter - Doom
The Movie: Of all the video games that seemed ripe for an entertainingly trashy movie adaptation, Doom was right at the top of the pile. A game cast and much-needed R-rating were sadly squandered, then, on a weirdly generic sci-fi horror actioner which seemed vaguely embarrassed to embrace the series' mythology.
The Scene: The only sequence in the entire movie that truly embodied the spirit of the source material was the gloriously goofy - and ludicrously entertaining - first-person sequence, in which Reaper (Karl Urban) angrily shoots his way through a fleet of increasingly horrifying monsters.
Stylish yet silly, the five-minute blast-a-thon culminates in Reaper battling a wheelchair-clad monster - known in the games as a Pinky - with a chainsaw, in what's probably the most tonally and stylistically accurate sequence from any video game movie ever.
The rest of the movie is dull as dishwater for sure, but this minor masterpiece lives on thanks to YouTube.
