5. Horns
The Pitch: Ignatius "Ig" Perrish (Daniel Radcliffe) is still getting over the mysterious death of his girlfriend Merrin (Juno Temple) when, some time later, he wakes up after a drunken night out to find two horns growing out from his head. With a set of supernatural powers that allow him to unravel people's darkest secrets but not remember doing so, Ig sets out to discover the truth behind Merrin's demise.
The Buzz: Horns premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, and has taken a surprisingly long time to secure a release date, which may in part be due to the mixed reviews (45% on Rotten Tomatoes). Though Radcliffe is almost universally praised for taking a darker role, the consensus is that Alexander Aja's effort is surprisingly tame compared to his previous efforts (Switchblade Romance, Piranha 3D), and instead feels more geared towards the teen market. That said, the trailers released so far look fun, so we've not given up hope yet. If nothing, it looks like it'll demonstrate Radcliffe's willingness to move outside the box in his post-Potter career.
Release Date: October 29th (UK), October 31st (US).
