7. The Crooked Man
Originating from the English nursery rhyme of the same name, The Crooked Man made his first disturbing appearance in The Conjuring 2, skulking through the Hodgson family home under the guise of youngest daughter Janet.
Stating that he wants each of his offshoots of the main Conjuring series to have a ‘different flavour’ and represent various parts of the horror universe, The Crooked Man has been described as a ‘dark fairytale’, and a more whimsical take on the scares than its predecessors.
Having appeared in various other films, both horrors and not, The Crooked Man is a piece of childhood nostalgia that has been warped over the years into something quite spooky. Whilst there isn’t much on plot yet - we can guarantee it’ll be unpleasant from what’s been seen so far.
