13 Kick-Ass Upcoming Movies Nobody Is Talking About

4. Hell Fest

Hell Fest
Lionsgate

Not every exciting upcoming project needs to be Oscar-bait.

If the continued successes of mediocre horror film franchises at the box office (which seem to do well simply by virtue of not being utterly terrible) is anything to go by, there's a healthy appetite for horror in lucrative mainstream audiences. And that sort of bloodlust could find a nice little fast food injection with Gregory Plotkin's Hell Fest.

Produced by Terminator writer and The Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd, it's set in a horror theme park (instant win) where a slasher goes on the rampage in the crowds and it's unclear what's real and what's part of the attractions. As genius slasher premises go, it's simple but delightful and the atmosphere and gimmicks are hard to resist.

Plus, there's a killer in a mask and that's the kind of thing horror fans should be getting instantly excited about.
