13 Long-Delayed Film Projects We Wish Would Get Made Already

10. I Walk With The Dead

Originally Announced: July 2010 Status: Getting a re-write. Plot Details: Not much is known about I Walk With The Dead, plot-wise. It's supposed to be an all-female horror film and Carey Mulligan is currently attached to star. Why Has It Been Delayed? Director Nicolas Winding Refn had other films to get to first (Drive, Only God Forgives). Nicolas Winding Refn, like Tarantino, is known for talking about his future projects whenever he's promoting his most recent movie. He's talked about doing a Wonder Woman movie, he was once attached to a remake of Logan's Run, and has even mentioned re-teaming with Ryan Gosling to do a romantic comedy. Over the past few years, nothing substantial has happened with any of these movie ideas. But, Refn does seem serious about I Walk With The Dead. Refn's had the script written since at least the summer of 2010, one full year before Drive came out. He has always mentioned Carey Mulligan's name as possibly starring in the film, but the only other information he's given out is that the film would feature lots of sex. Recent news suggests that I Walk With The Dead is actually moving forward. Last October, it was announced that Refn would be re-working the script with playwright Polly Stenham and it seems that the director wants to go for a more "feminist" angle, as a reaction to those who've accused his previous films as being misogynistic. After the extremely mixed reactions to last year's Only God Forgives, it will be interesting to see what Refn's approach will be for this film... if it ever gets made.
