13 Major Revelations And Hints From The Ant-Man Trailer

1. "Is It Too Late To Change The Name?"

Is this a self-referential, self-deprecating nod to the issues in production? Or have Marvel just let the mask slip for a minute to admit that they perhaps don't quite have the confidence in Ant-Man that they've had elsewhere? It's a difficult sell, definitely, and though there are hints at a good story in this trailer if you're willing to look between the lines enough, Edgar Wright's departure has cost the film a lot in terms of geek credentials. He was the main reason to even entertain making Ant-Man in the first place, and the fact that Marvel had to scrabble around to find a replacement for him seems so cause for alarm, particularly as there was never a chance that the replacement would get the property like Wright did. It's hard not to feel like this line was lifted out of a creative meeting at Marvel: that this isn't exactly what Kevin Feige said when the film started to unravel before Wright's departure. And if that's the case, maybe everyone should be counting this as a self-ribbing statement of confidence: "look how silly we ever were to doubt this..." Let's bloody hope so.
