13 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About Jason Voorhees

11. Jason Was Never Meant To Be A Franchise Star

As was the trend back in the day, Jason Voorhees was never intended as an actual star of the Friday the 13th franchise. That makes sense considering his screen shyness in the first movie, really, but still comes as a bit of a shock considering what a mainstay of the title he's later become.

Just like Michael Myers before him - who was conspicuously absent from Halloween III: Season of the Witch - Jason Voorhees was never meant to rise up as a repeated name in a giant back catalogue of movies, rather, he was supposed to be part of a movie anthology instead. That Jason first appears simply as a nightmare feels representative of his lack of tangible power in the franchise to begin with, too.

Of course, once they got a whiff of the power of Jason's brand, that was all flipped on its head - though a Jason-free anthology TV series did actually get made in the end.
