Way back in Phase One, we had some Easter Egg seeding for Namor's presence in the background of the MCU and there have been firmer rumours of a project for the Sub-Mariner on the horizon more recently.

The biggest hint actually comes from MCU's rival DC franchise. Now that they've done their undersea adventure, it's surely only a matter of time before Marvel do. Almost the same way Apple unveil their innovations months after a rival has already done it. That's just what big IP developers do.

And on top of that, more tangibly, Kevin Feige spoke at a special reception and screening for Black Panther in Los Angeles last year, where journalist Erick Weber asked him about that status of Namor. The Marvel supremo said the aquatic antihero could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but they're working on if and when right now.

Hopes

For once, that Marvel take a lead from DC and Warner Bros. Aquaman might have had some issues, but the world-building was brilliant and James Wan's slightly bonkers vision set the model that Marvel should follow. Tyring to make an underwater kingdom movie that's too embdedded in realism is just folly and the way the MCU has drifted towards more fantastical elements offers precedent for them to dial the necessary elements up more.
