13 Movies Already Cancelled In 2019 (And Why)
8. Klonoa
What We Knew
The anime "Dream Traveller" might not be as familiar a name to mainstream cinema audiences as some of the others on this list, but to his video game and Manga fans, he was big business.
Back in October, 2016, Henshin announced that a film adaptation was in pre-production, with a follow-up in January 2017 that Hideo Yoshizawa had joined as executive producer along with Ash Paulsen of GameXplain as an associate producer. Other than that management positioning news, no details for the film were ever released, beyond Variety hinting it would just focus on "the adventures of the cat-like Klonoa and his pals through a dream world."
Why It Was Cancelled & The Future
Sadly, it's dead. After two years with no updates, writer Hitoshi Ariga confirmed the project was cancelled on January 4th, 2019 on Twitter.
Ariga apologized and seemed to hint that it would be difficult to explain why the project was cancelled but that everyone had “tried their best.” If that's the case, a new project seems unlikely any time soon, but Ariga says he notes to release details, including the story and artwork he worked on in the near future.
