13 Movies That Made Being A Bad Guy Look Incredibly Cool

2. Fight Club (1999)

Nothing does social commentary quite like Fight Club. David Fincher takes us on an assault against global commercialism and the loss of masculinity. The ideal way to do this? By punching each other in the face and blowing stuff up of course. This film is another case of a likeable actor making bad deeds. Brad Pitt plays Tyler Durden, counterpart to Edward Norton. He sees all that is wrong with the world; our obsession with consumerist products and the iron-grasp of conglomerates. Essentially, Durden is a terrorist. In an age when the American public is obsessed with the war on terror, they laud and promote one themselves. But why? It's because he speaks sense, and we justify his actions - although extreme - because we agree with him. It helps that Pitt became ripped to shreds for the role, touting the perfect male form in the underground brawling scenes. Maybe we think he's cool because we're dissatisfied with our own lives, or maybe it's because we feel disempowered. Either way, for a fleeting moment, Tyler Durden convinced us that he was nothing but accurate in his outlook.

I love all things imaginative, from the page to the screen, and nurture a soft spot for Donald Sutherland and Daniel Bryan.
