13 Movies That Made Being A Bad Guy Look Incredibly Cool

9. Catch Me If You Can (2002)

Another Leonardo DiCaprio film; another film with a lovable criminal. This time the best actor to never win an Oscar plays Frank Abagnale Jr. in Steven Spielberg's cat-and-mouse classic, Catch Me If You Can. Like The Wolf Of Wall Street, Catch Me If You Can is based on a book written by the protagonist. However, where the former takes a look at the seething underbelly of New York's Wall Street, the latter tells the tale of a teen running away from his troubles, who just so happens to be a master forger of cheques and identification. Abagnale is witty and smart, always one step ahead of FBI agent, Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks). But his most notable trait is his relatability. Many of us have experienced the breakdown of our parents' marriage and wished we could escape the personal obligation of choosing a side. Not many of us can do this by becoming a pilot, a doctor or a lawyer. The fact that Frank achieves all of this by cutting corners (or simply conning the authorities) endears us. What he achieves is not legal by any stretch of the imagination; but a quick and easy way to make money and gain a high-profile job? Well, that's a scenario to put a smile on your face.

I love all things imaginative, from the page to the screen, and nurture a soft spot for Donald Sutherland and Daniel Bryan.
