13 Movies That Are Destined To Disappoint In 2019

7. Happy Death Day 2U

The first Happy Death Day sure wasn't perfect, but it was a lot of fun, if absolutely not a movie that demanded a sequel. But when a movie makes $125.5 million on a $5 million budget, there's no way it doesn't get a follow-up.

Happy Death Day 2U doesn't look awful by any means, but the trailers do suggest a film that's perhaps been let off the leash a little too eagerly.

While the first film was kept grounded-ish by its budget, clearly far more money has been pumped into the sequel, which features CGI explosions, plane sequences and generally more elaborate set-pieces.

It's certainly possible it all gives way to some inspired insanity, but remember that writer-director Christopher Langdon wrote most of the increasingly lame Paranormal Activity sequels, so it's worth being sceptical of his ability to deliver here.

If you're hoping for an innovative remix of the original, you might be disappointed when it (probably) turns out more like The Hangover 2: a more expensive but less inspired rehash.
