13 Movies That Are Destined To Disappoint In 2019
6. Chaos Walking
Doug Liman's adaptation of Patrick Ness' 2008 YA novel The Knife of Never Letting Go may be banking on the commercially viable pairing of Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Star Wars' Rey (Daisy Ridley), but one gets the sinking feeling Chaos Walking won't turn out so hot.
For starters, Liman's previous effort in the PG-13 fantasy sphere - Jumper - was a total dud, and this movie currently has at least half-a-dozen credited screenwriters, including Ness himself, John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side, Snow White and the Huntsman) and, bizarrely, Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).
That's to say nothing of the movie's planned re-shoots which haven't yet taken place, while Lionsgate still hasn't announced a new release date for the film, which was originally planned to drop on March 1.
Too many cooks in the kitchen have ruined countless promising films, and though Chaos Walking boasts a mighty cast - also including Mads Mikkelsen, David Oyelowo, Demián Bichir and Cynthia Erivo - this has all the makings of a crushing let-down.
