13 Movies That Scored A Legendary F With CinemaScore

3. Solaris

20th Century Fox

After scoring some good early successes culminating in 2001's Ocean's Eleven, George Clooney went slightly bold to team up with Steven Soderbergh for a remake of Tarkovsky's 1972 sci-fi Solaris. Despite his rising star and the director's past successes, it didn't go well and CinemaScore's F was the cherry on top of an underwhelming release.

Unfortunately, it was a bit of a financial bust for Clooney too, making just $30m from its $47m initial budget.

Did It Deserve It?

It's not a terrible film at all, but it's a little slow-moving for mainstream audiences, and you really have to suspect that it was at least partly the fault of the marketing campaign that made it look like something entirely different that audiences weren't impressed. At least that's what Steven Soderbergh says.

All in all, given some of the other films that have scored far higher CinemaScores, an F is really harsh, but it was correct in terms of predicting the box office response.
