13 Movies You Won't Believe Are Being Rebooted Already
7. Transporter
The Original: The Luc Besson-created, Jason Statham-starring action series served up three critically divisive yet increasingly commercially successful films between 2002 and 2008. For reasons unknown, despite the series peaking with number three, a fourth film wasn't rushed into production, and Statham went on to become an even bigger star in the years that followed. Perhaps his asking price was just too much to accommodate the relatively modest $20-30 million budget of the movies? Time Since The Last Movie: 5 years, 11 months The Reboot: In May 2013, a reboot trilogy was announced, with young up-and-comer Ed Skrein taking over Statham's Frank Martin role, and filming finally began in August of this year. However, without Statham's star power and a dangerously tight February 27th, 2015 release date, one suspects The Transporter Legacy will likely flop and put the rest of the series in jeopardy (or at least cause it to go the VOD route). Or maybe they'll just reboot it again in another 5 or 6 years with Jai Courtney?
