13 Movies You Won't Believe Are Being Rebooted Already
6. Friday The 13th
The Original: It may not be a great movie when compared to its main slasher rivals Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street, but 1980's Friday the 13th is a classic horror staple with a killer plot twist and a number of memorable kills. It led to a 10-part franchise which wrapped up with 2001's Jason X, before the 2003 hit Freddy vs. Jason spin-off, and then a commercially successful 2009 remake. A sequel was quickly planned for release the next year, though the damaging effects of the 2008 recession caused co-financiers Paramount and New Line to put the project on hold. Time Since The Last Movie: 5 years, 9 months The Reboot: Last year, it was finally announced that Friday the 13th would be getting a second reboot, possibly in 3D and shot in the in-vogue found footage format. However, Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller recently stated that they currently haven't decided on either of those facts yet, and despite rumours to the contrary, Jason Voorhees will 100% be the bad guy. A found footage take on the series would certainly be more interesting than another straight reboot of the 1980s formula, as long as it can avoid some of the more irritating tropes of the genre (something that, with Platinum Dunes attached, is pretty doubtful).
