13 Overlooked Positives About 2015’s Worst Movies

2. The Rights Might Revert To Marvel - Fantastic Four

The Movie: Fox attempted to bring the Fantastic Four movie franchise surging back to life with this gritty reboot, but thanks to a woeful script, Josh Trank's mediocre direction, a lack of action and a terrible interpretation of Dr. Doom, critics and audiences alike savaged it. A classically awful comic book movie that's, yes, less enjoyable than Batman and Robin. The Overlooked Positive: Even though the movie bombed, reports suggested that Fox were nevertheless moving ahead with a summer 2017 release for a sequel, though as the cast balked at the idea, it soon enough became apparent this wouldn't happen, with Fox recently removing it from their schedule. Honestly, after three mediocre-to-terrible films, the best thing Fox could do is just let the rights revert to Marvel, who naturally have a much better track record at dealing with troubled properties. It's not like Fantastic Four has ever been a major hit for the studio, so why not just let it go rather than sink cash into another potential failure? Rumours have persisted for months that Marvel in fact already have the rights back, but hopefully we'll get some confirmation in the near-future either way.
