13 Planned Film Trilogies That Need To Be Completed

12. The Fly 3

For a movie about a man being fused with a fly during an experiment, The Fly was so much better than it had any right to be. That€™s down to the genius of director David Cronenberg, who gave the film genuine emotion amongst limbs dissolving in fly vomit. The Cronenberg-free sequel was fun in its own b-movie way, but was a long way from the pathos of the first. Nobody was aching for a third part, until Cronenberg revealed he€™d penned a script for one. This was especially shocking since he€™d never helmed a sequel before, but as he explained, it wasn€™t a direct sequel. He explained €œIt was a meditation on fly-ness. None of the same characters or anything and, of course, with an understanding of modern technology.€ He appeared genuinely excited about the idea, but for reasons he said were too complicated to explain, the script wasn€™t made. He€™s still open to the idea of making it, and it would be lovely to see Cronenberg making a big budget body horror movie again.
