13 Silly Mistakes You Won't Believe Made It Into Star Trek Movies

1. Kelvin Pods Are Bat Poles

Star Trek Beyond
CBS

One of the long-running jokes of the sixties Batman show depicted Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson sliding down their fireman poles and changing clothes along the way. The sheer physics of this aside, it was a fun joke for the audience to enjoy in every episode that it happened. Star Trek Beyond seems to both create a homage to this and Doctor Who as well.

The Kelvin pods that Chekov and Kirk escape in are shown as claustrophobic escape pods that do manage to keep them safe. Critically, both men enter the pods in their standard yellow Starfleet uniforms. However, when they emerge from their pods on Altamid, they are both donned, head to toe, in blue away-mission uniforms.

The shot of Chekov above on the left depicts how tight these pods are, while the image on the right shows him changed, though the pod behind him seems to be slightly bigger on the inside than the previous image suggested. Whether these pods are a TARDIS or not, it pushes belief just a little to suggest that while Chekov was escaping the swarm, he managed to go through a costume change along the way.
