13 Silly Mistakes You Won't Believe Made It Into Star Trek Movies

8. Valtane Either Has A Twin Or Can Really Move

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country is as close to a perfect film that the franchise has, easily rivalling both the Wrath of Khan and First Contact for the great Trek film of them all. Having said that, it has a moment of a truly obvious continuity error right at the start of the film, which is both hilarious and exasperating at the same time.

While Mr Valtane reports to Captain Sulu on the results of their survey, the USS Excelsior begins to shake. The explosion of the Klingon moon of Praxis has sent out a shockwave through the galaxy, zooming like a giant wall through space. Valtane is standing right beside Sulu when the shakes begin to overtake the ship.

Then, at 47 seconds into the above video, Valtane is clearly visible, seated at his workstation and looking very worried. The next moment, he is back beside Sulu's chair before he runs back to his station to report on what's affecting the ship. The shots were clearly filmed out of sequence then edited poorly back together. After all, we did say that the film was close to perfect.
