13 Silly Mistakes You Won't Believe Made It Into Star Trek Movies

6. How Many Decks?

Star Trek First Contact
CBS

Star Trek: First Contact is generally regarded as one of the strongest movies in the canon. However, that doesn't leave it free from silly mistakes and there is one mistake that really shouldn't have got through the editing room. While crewman Daniels may have simply been too stressed to give an accurate number of the decks on the Enterprise-E, it's a bit of a blunder all the same.

Captain Picard tells Lily that the Enterprise has 24 decks while they are making their way back to the bridge. However, crewman Daniels reports that the Borg have taken control of decks 26 - 11. This means that either the Borg were so greedy that they built two new decks to assimilate or that someone made a bit of a whoopsy while writing the script.

There have been attempts to explain this away through the years, even suggesting that decks 25 and 26 were top secret and that Lily wasn't privy to that information. However, nothing concrete has been clarified on-screen leading the audience to believe that somewhere between script and filming, the left hand never spoke to the right.
