13 Small Changes That Would Make Terrible Movies Awesome

6. The Twist Isn't Ruined By The Trailers - Terminator Salvation

Now, to some it may seem unfair to criticise a film for how it was marketed, but in the case of Terminator Salvation, it's pretty much unavoidable.

The trailers unfortunately gave away the movie's big conceit early on, that convict Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) was in fact a human-Terminator hybrid, something that's actually a significant twist in the final movie and not revealed until the hour mark.

The spoilerific marketing drained the film of much of its suspense on a first viewing, and ruined what would've been a genuinely shocking surprise.

Sure, being surprised isn't everything, but the film would've felt so much more fresh and unpredictable had the Marcus character just seemed like a regular human going into the movie.

The series didn't learn anything from this, though, as 2015's Terminator Genisys similarly spoiled its big reveal, that John Connor gets turned into a Terminator, a few months before the movie came out. Sigh.
