1. "You Know What Happens When A Toad Gets Struck By Lightning? The Same Thing That Happens To Everything Else" - X-Men
Bryan Singer's X-Men may have been outdone by subsequent movies in the series, but it was a fantastic opener to the franchise, and helped kick-start Hollywood's fascination with the comic book medium. Though the movie was written by David Hayter (aka the voice actor for Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid video game series), Joss Whedon made a few small contributions to the script, and despite his reputation as a go-to-writer for witty banter, he ended up delivering one of the most infamously bad quotes in comic book movie history as Storm (Halle Berry) faces off against Toad. Storm: Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning? Storm: The same thing that happens to everything else. Part of the problem is Berry's delivery: she clearly doesn't understand that the line is supposed to be comical, and recites it like a robot. As for the line itself? It's pretty inane and totally not bada** in any way, but with the right actress reading it, it might've sounded a lot less terrible. Did we miss any classically awful lines from great movies?
