13 Things Hollywood Always Gets Wrong About Film Fans

2. We CAN Get Enough Careless Destruction

In the great scope of things that have been done to death, carelessly blowing up major cities has got to be #1 on the charts. Every major film apparently pooled their resources together and created one giant 'Blow A City Up' program that they all share and utilize every summer... and audiences are tired of it. Yet, each year, these films continue to try to one-up each other, causing more and more wanton destruction. Avengers blows up sections of New York City. Then Man of Steel decides to blow up entire square miles of Metropolis. Not to be outdone, Thor decides to blow up two DIFFERENT worlds... at the same time! Fans do love spectacle, of course: they also have a sense of reality, even in a fictional world, and that sense allows us to realize that these random acts of destruction cost lives. If these events truly happened, and countless lives are in fact lost, do these film 'heroes' not become less heroic? Do they not become someone we have to cease believing in? It has become more and more difficult to stand behind our modern day heroes when their respect for human lives seems to be negligible at best. Fans would like to stroll into a major metropolitan area without looking over their head for gigantic wormholes or a certain God of Thunder to come ruin their daytime excursion. We have, quite simply, tired of it. Do us all a favor and put that little gem back in the keepsake box for a while.
