13 Things That Would Have Happened After 2016 Movies Ended

4. The Purge Is Abolished, Resulting In Civil War - The Purge: Election Year

The Purge Election Year
Universal Pictures

Senator Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell) ends up winning the Presidential election, and the movie's final scene sees riots breaking out, as New Founding Fathers of America suppoters protest Roan's attempt to outlaw the Purge.

Regardless of what the next Purge film actually follows (there are rumours it may be a prequel), the through-line seems pretty clear: Roan announces the end of the Purge, leading to a full-on Civil War between the NFFA supporters and, well, everybody else.

This one would write itself and could easily make for a compelling twist on the usual Purge formula, especially as it feels like a natural extension of Election Year's finale.
