5. Corey Feldman Was Method Acting Killing Jason

Inches away from actual film stardom with first, summer 1984's Gremlins, then the triple whammy of 1985's The Goonies, 1986's Stand By Me and 1987's The Lost Boys, Corey Feldman was twelve when he filmed Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter, but already a veteran of nine years, having appeared on a dozen television shows and commercials.

Friday The 13th was his first feature film role approaching a lead, and by all reports it was a hellish experience for him. He was having a miserable time at home: his parents had recently divorced, and he lived with a mother who bullied and belittled him, force-feeding him diet pills as she harangued him about his weight, while being managed by a father who'd rarely been there for him as a child and (it was discovered later) had stolen all the money he'd made.

Feldman insists that Zito treated him terribly on set and on location: reportedly, Erich Anderson and Kimberley Beck tried to shield him as much as possible from all the gratuitous nudity on display during the shoot. Regardless, this production was apparently where Feldman saw a naked woman for the first time.

As previously mentioned, the young actor hated director Joseph Zito, who was famously awful to his cast and crew in pursuit of getting the best movie possible - when attacking Jason at the end screaming "die! Die!" (in reality, a couple of sandbags just out of shot), Feldman was imagining that it was Zito he was hitting.
