It's always fun to revisit movies and notice actors who, at the time, hadn't yet staked their claim in Hollywood, and The Dark Knight is no exception.

The most notable appearance by a relatively unknown (at the time) actor is by David Dastmalchian, who played Thomas Schiff, a paranoid schizophrenic who teams up with The Joker at Commissioner Loeb's (Colin McFarlane) funeral and is consequently interrogated by Harvey Dent.

Dastmalchian's small but remarkable performance as the deranged character was impressively subtle and memorable, even if it was another five years before he got his truly big break in Denis Villeneuve's Prisoners, winning major acclaim for playing a frazzled kidnapping victim.

Since then, he's gone on to appear in both Ant-Man movies as Scott Lang's (Paul Rudd) pal Kurt, and had a small but enjoyable role in Villeneuve's latest movie, Blade Runner 2049.

Dastmalchian has himself credited Nolan with his career success, but considering what brilliant use he made of his brief screen time in The Dark Knight, he more than earned it himself.
