13 Upcoming Comic Book Movies That Could Beat Batman V Superman

8. Batman: The Killing Joke

The Killing Joke is Alan Moore's 1988 graphic novel take on The Joker's origin story, and is one of the most revered comics of not only the Clown Prince of Crime, but the entire Batman mythos. It's also had a tremendous influence on not only subsequent comic lore but various movies and animated films (including Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight). Fans have been eager to see the comic adapted into an animated movie for years, and last year, it was finally confirmed that it would be happening, with Mark Hamill (the most iconic voice of The Joker) being quickly pulled out of Joker retirement to reprise the part one last time. If the brilliant psychology and ground-breaking approach to The Joker isn't enough of a sell, Warner Bros. have reportedly also allowed the film to be R-rated, which given the harsh tone of the comic, is vitally important to its success. Sure, animation is a whole other ball game compared to live-action and it won't have the colossal budget of BvS, but in terms of sheer, visceral storytelling, it sets an incredibly high bar.
