Release Date: April 17th The Plot: After a humiliating video of her drunkenly passed out at a party circulates online, Laura Barnes (Heather Sossaman) kills herself. A year later, six of Laura's most vocal bullies gather in a Skype chat, but when a seventh unknown member joins and threatens to kill anyone who logs out or stops chatting, the gang must re-evaluate what they did to Laura. Why It's Awful: Techo-horror films have been the rage ever since The Ring first became a big hit, and Unfriended (originally given the horrible title Cybernatural) looks like another limp entry into a sub-genre that's never really lived up to the one that kick-started it all in the first place. It's a dopey premise for a film for starters, and though it did win some positive notices from the Fantastia Film Festival earlier in the year, it's hard to be won over when the plot sounds so much like so many terrible horror movies gore-hounds have sat through over the last decade or so.
