13 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed (And Why)
11. The Space Between Us
Release Date: February 3, 2017
Why It's Doomed: A sci-fi romance that seems to skew towards the teen set but isn't based on a hit Young Adult novel? It's a bold strategy, but not one that looks set to pay off given the utterly mediocre trailers and the fact that STX Entertainment have completely buried the film, which you're probably only now learning is due out at the beginning of February.
In addition it stars Britt Robertson (star of Disney's bomb Tomorrowland) and Asa Butterfield (star of bombs Hugo and Ender's Game), is helmed by the director of Hannah Montana: The Movie, and is written by the guy responsible for the recent awards dud Collateral Beauty.
Even with an impeccable supporting cast including Gary Oldman, Carla Gugino and B.D. Wong, this one doesn't stand a chance. Expect it to fail to recoup that clearly sizable budget and critics to savage it.
