9. Dark Universe

Release Date: TBA, but certainly not for a little while.

A live-action adaptation of Justice League Dark has an insane amount of potential to take the formula of an ensemble-led superhero movie and reinvent it with a distinctly more eccentric, supernatural and, yes, dark tone.

Guillermo del Toro was initially attached to direct, and disappointing though his departure is, he's been replaced by Doug Liman, who proved beyond all doubt his skill at directing high-concept action in Edge of Tomorrow.

There are a lot of ifs and buts before Dark Universe hits screens, but with the right casting and script, it could be a mind-boggling superhero masterwork like no other.
