Merteuil would probably be good friends with Cersei Lannister as both women believe that the most powerful weapon that a woman possesses is between her legs. Merteuil is a character from Les Liaisons Dangereuse, an eighteenth century novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, the original Cruel Intentions. The novel focuses on members of the aristocracy who have nothing better to do with their time except make the lives of innocent people hell in an attempt to destroy their reputation, as well as their relationships. Merteuil has an excessive amount of lovers which she uses to manipulate for personal gain and out of boredom. She uses sex as a weapon and as a political stance to defend subservient women of the eighteenth century. Sex is used in order to manipulate and control men so whilst Merteuil is publically a respected member of society, she knows when and who can be dominated privately.
