13 Worst Movie Sequel Titles Ever

9. Halloween

Why Halloween Just Killed Up At The Box OfficeThumb
Universal Pictures

Last year's new Halloween movie was the first truly good entry into the franchise since the first, if you can get past its utterly lame, cynical title.

2018's Halloween is the third film in the franchise to bare that one-word moniker, coming after the 1978 original and Rob Zombie's ill-advised 2007 remake, but unlike the remake, this is a sequel to the 1978 movie, making the name even sillier.

Granted, David Gordon Green was in a tough spot here because there are already two movies named Halloween II, but was there really nothing more imaginative on the table than the same old thing?

Ultimately it's a decision that comes down to brand awareness, and Universal knows that just recycling the name rather than opting for something a bit riskier like "H40" is the safest way to ensure a healthy commercial performance.

And as brainless a title as it is, the film's franchise-high $253.7 million box office is tough to argue with.

It does beg the question, though - what the hell is the next film going to be called?
