13 Worst Performances In Otherwise Awesome Blockbusters
1. Marion Cotillard (Talia Al Ghul) - The Dark Knight Rises
The Movie: Though it's generally regarded as the worst of Nolan's three Batman movies, TDKR is still a mostly-riveting finale for this saga of ground-breaking superhero movies, bringing major emotional heft and closure to Christian Bale's tenure as the Caped Crusader.
The Performance: Marion Cotillard is an Oscar-winning actress who worked brilliantly with Nolan on his terrific Inception...but she's thoroughly wasted here as philanthropist "Miranda Tate", and isn't much more interesting as her eventual villainous identity, Talia al Ghul, is revealed.
It all culminates in probably the most atrociously acted death scene by an Oscar winning actor all century, letting out some extremely stagey laboured breaths before her head lulls like she's just going to sleep.
It's probably fair to blame Nolan for his part in this as well (namely not getting another, better take), but Cotillard wildly misjudged the scene and it completely tanked her already rather mediocre performance.
