13 Worst Performances In Otherwise Awesome Blockbusters
2. Charlie Hunnam (Raleigh Becket) - Pacific Rim
The Movie: Guillermo Del Toro's outrageous, action-packed spectacle is a knowing homage to over-the-top B-movies, and what it lacks in smart writing it more than compensates for with terrific set-pieces and fun performances from the likes of Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Ron Perlman and Rinko Kikuchi.
The Performance: Charlie Hunnam plays the protagonist of the movie but he's also one of the few actors taking the film oddly seriously, causing his performance to come off as tonally jarring when placed alongside the surrounding cheese.
His accent also sucks, and he just doesn't seem like he's having a lot of fun, making him easily the most boring character in the entire movie. While a lot of the other actors embraced the silly dialogue, Hunnam played it straight and is painful to watch as a result.
We know he can act because, well, Sons of Anarchy, but here he's nothing short of turgid.
