14 Announced Movies That Are Never Coming Out

8. National Treasure 3

After National Treasure: Book of Secrets was released back in 2007 and grossed over $450 million, it was assumed a sequel would be fast-tracked for release by 2010.

It's now 11 years since the last movie hit cinemas, and director Jon Turteltaub has stated that they've had trouble getting a satisfactory script written and signed off by Disney.

Turteltaub's last update was in July, when he reiterated that Disney wasn't sold on any of their pitches.

Ignoring the fact it's a freaking National Treasure movie and a half-competent hack could knock out a passable script over a long weekend, the real problem here is that Nicolas Cage's box office viability has basically gone down the toilet over the last five years.

He's no longer a draw to casual audiences, and Disney likely feels that too much time has passed for a third go-around. As awesome as it'd be to see the movie made, it's just not happening.
