14 Awesome Directors Who Need A Superhero Movie

9. Jordan Peele

Though Jordan Peele has directed just one film to date, that single movie, this year's Get Out, caused enough of a stir with audiences and critics alike that rumours fast began to swirl that he was being offered blockbuster movies left and right, most prominently the planned live-action Akira remake.

Peele ended up passing on Akira, but that hasn't stopped him being continually linked with helming a superhero movie in the near-future, given his clear penchant for witty dialogue and impeccable handle on style and tone, even if on a tiny budget.

How Likely Is It?: Peele reportedly turned down Akira because he wanted to focus on making original movies, so it doesn't seem massively likely that he'd accept an offer from Marvel or DC any time soon, but perhaps his mind could be changed with the right material and collaborators.

It could very well happen eventually, but Peele claims that he has a handful of other "social thrillers" ready to go right now, and that seems to be his focus. Give it another five years and see where he is, because the genre could certainly use someone with his talents. 5/10
